FESTIVAL 2022:
COME SWING WITH US!
The Blue Jay Jazz Foundation’s Festival 2022: “Come Swing with Us” presented an amazing lineup of world class jazz, big band, and dazzling virtuoso musicians.
The BJJF is one of the most scenic jazz festivals for fans to enjoy taking place lakeside in the majestic mountains of Southern California. “This is a respite for music lovers to swing and dance away the blues”, says Chris Levister, Blue Jay Jazz Foundation Board President.
The immersive 3-day live jazz experience included two evenings; Thursday and Friday, August 25 & 26 at Arrowhead Lake Association Tavern Bay. Evening lineups included two Grammy Award-nominated headliners, Saxophonist Jessy J® and the 17-Piece Ron King Big Band direct from a blockbuster tour of Indonesia’s prestigious JAVA Jazz Festival. 2008 BJJF Scholarship awardee Soprano Olivia Clark joined Ron King with favorites from the American Song Book. Thursday evening musical performances also included the award-winning Cal Baptist University Jazz Ensemble with special guest performances by the 2022 Blue Jay Jazz Foundation Future Generation Jazz Scholars.
Saturday morning, August 27, the party moved to Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa for a morning of live jazz with grand views of the lake. By popular demand, virtuoso Pianist Yuko Mabuchi returned with her crowd pleasing fiery keyboard style featuring special guest pianist Billy Mitchell & Friends.
Best of all, the 2022 Jazz Festival is for a good cause – Proceeds help provide instruments, equipment and music making opportunities for our local youth.
